3rd Place: $5,000

Student Category: Awarded with three prizes at $1,500 each to top three applications submitted. Students can compete for larger prize money as well but only one prize per entry will be awarded.

THERMAL MONITORING USING ANN(ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK)
Condition monitoring of induction motor can
significantly reduce the cost of maintenance and the
risk of unexpected failures by allowing the early
detection of potentially catastrophic faults. In
condition based maintenance, one does not schedule
maintenance or machine replacement based on
previous records or statistical estimates of machine
failure. there are various types of monitoring process usch as vibration monitoring, motor current signature analysis (MCSA) ,electromagnetic
field monitoring , chemical analysis, thermal monitoring, infrared measurement, acoustic
noise analysis. thermal monitoring provide a useful
indication of machine overheating but offer limited
fault diagnostic capability. Thus the key for the success of
condition based maintenance is having an accurate
means of condition assessment and fault diagnosis.
On-line condition monitoring uses measurements taken
while a machine is operating, to determine if a fault
exists.

Intel® Core™2 quad processor Q6600
Intel® Core™2 quad processor Q6600 deliver Intel’s advanced, powerful processors for desktop PCs. The mainstream Core 2 Quad Q6600, clocked at 2.4 GHz, was launched on January 8, 2007 at US$851 (reduced to US$530 on April 7, 2007). The processor is designed to deliver performance across applications and usages where end-users can truly appreciate and experience the performance. These applications include Internet audio and streaming video, image processing, video content creation, speech, 3D, CAD, games, multimedia, and multitasking user environments.
Intel® Core™2 quad processor Q6600 is the first desktop quad-core processors that
combine the performance and power efficiencies of four low-power microarchitecture
cores to enable a new level of multi-tasking, multi-media, and gaming experiences.
They are 64-bit processors that maintain compatibility with IA-32 software

EFFICIENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT..
Energy management is not a one-off exercise; to be effective it needs to be an ongoing process. This short guide provides a structured approach that businesses can adopt to manage their energy use effectively.
The aim of energy management is to reduce the amount of energy a building consumes. Good energy management starts from an understanding how a building uses energy. The next stage is to identify inefficiencies and agree actions to improve efficiency. These actions need associated targets and ongoing monitoring to measure their performance.

Actions taken to improve efficiency can vary. Some cost nothing, others are low cost and some require greater investment. Some use technology, other focus on people but good energy management will normally deliver savings through a combination of methods.
