Seagate FreeAgent : The most important tool to keep the remembering of college days alive forever
A blog entry for The “Seagate FreeAgent and I” Contest
I can feel its simple, sleek, smart and ultra-stylish design on my own desk as I have bought Seagate FreeAgent . Being made of brushed metal no need to worry for scratch .Its encryption facility ensure me to protect my private pictures, documents and project papers from others. It is energy effecient and heat resistant so that I can use it for many hours continuously.Though it comes with 5 years warranty , I am very sorry ,I can’t say anything about its customer care services as I have never faced that part of the service provided by Seagate.
According to the Ontrack survey in 2002 ,the figure on the left side shows the most common causes of data loss .Almost in half of cases hardware is responsible for data loss, so we can easily configure the need of crash proof hardware .Seagate is now working with SSD technology means more failure resistant .
The software provided by seagate is well enough for Backup of all stuffs for safekeeping, just in case computer crashes or gets a virus and for password protection but it misses out on an important feature – incremental back up. One more shortcoming is that, though we are allowed to create a backup routine, we cannot save more than one routine at a time .
Though I am happy and satisfied customer of Seagate ,I would wish to have a seagate product with more and more space (3 OR 4 TB) without compromising with the data transfer rate .In the future , I am looking for a product whose performance is independant of all environmental conditions means it can be operated within a wide range of temperature, should be shock proof ,water-proof and able to handle any power spikes or surges and I am very sure that seagate will be the first one to offer me such a product …
